What is Alpha?

Alpha is a series of interactive sessions exploring the basics of the Christian faith. Alpha is for anyone who's curious to explore the big questions of life, faith and meaning. The talks are designed to encourage conversation and explore the Christian faith in a friendly, open and informal environment. You can say anything you like or nothing at all.

Each session looks at a different question about life and faith. The questions are designed to encourage conversation. Simply put, it’s an open, informal, and honest space to explore and discuss life’s big questions together.

Alpha is FREE and open to anyone.

Alpha will run Sunday evenings from 5-8pm from January 12-March 23, 2025 at the Smithers Christian Reformed Church.

Why should I attend?

At some point, everyone wrestles with life’s big questions—questions about hope, purpose, meaning, and love. The reality is, most of us are just too busy to think them through. This is why Alpha exists. 

 

There’s no cost, no pressure, and no follow-up if you decide after the first session that it’s not for you. It’s simply an open invitation to explore and connect with people on a deeper level. 

What should I expect?

Alpha is not a lecture you passively consume. Each session includes three key components: a time to connect with others, an engaging talk designed to inspire conversation, and a chance to share your thoughts and ideas honestly in an open group discussion.
